1Information We Collect
We collect minimal information necessary to deliver accurate Islamic services and app features:
When you grant location permissions, we use your device geographic coordinates (latitude and longitude) to calculate accurate local prayer times (Fajr, Dhuhr, Asr, Maghrib, Isha), determine sunrise/sunset times, and compute the direction of the Qibla toward the Kaaba in Makkah. Location data is processed locally on your device or via secure API queries and is never sold or tracked across third-party apps.
If you voluntarily register an account, we may collect your name, email address, and profile preferences (e.g., preferred prayer calculation method, Quran bookmark synchronizations, selected Adhan reciter).
Device model, operating system version, push notification tokens (for Adhan and daily Azkar reminders), language preferences, and crash diagnostic logs to maintain app stability.
2Location Permission Disclosure (Google Play Requirement)
Muslim Ummah requests location access (ACCESS_FINE_LOCATION / ACCESS_COARSE_LOCATION) solely to calculate prayer schedules according to your current city or coordinates and to display the Qibla compass needle. You may manually select a city if you prefer not to grant GPS location access. Location features are disabled immediately if permission is revoked.
3How We Use Your Information
- To calculate and present exact prayer times based on local astronomical formulas.
- To send local push notifications for Adhan call to prayer and morning/evening Azkar.
- To sync Quranic reading progress, bookmarks, and personal notes across your registered devices.
- To respond to user support inquiries and provide assistance.
- To improve application performance, fix bugs, and prevent fraudulent activity.
4Third-Party Services & SDKs
We utilize trusted third-party SDKs that adhere to strict privacy standards:
- Google Play Services / Firebase: Used for cloud messaging notifications, app diagnostics, and crash analytics.
- Aladhan & Astronomical API Services: Used for fetching global prayer calculation data when offline calculation is insufficient.
5Data Security & Encryption
We implement industry-standard encryption protocols (HTTPS with TLS 1.2/1.3) to protect all transmitted data between your device and our servers. Data stored on servers is secured behind restricted firewall access and encrypted at rest.
6Account & Data Deletion Request (Play Console Compliant)
In compliance with Google Play User Data Policy, users have the absolute right to request deletion of their account and associated data at any time.
Option 1 (Dedicated Account Deletion Web Request URL): You can submit an account deletion request online at https://muslimummah.org/delete-account
Option 2 (In-App Deletion): Navigate to Settings > Account > Delete Account inside the Muslim Ummah mobile app.
Option 3 (Email Request): Send an email to our Data Protection Officer at privacy@muslimummah.org with the subject line "Account Deletion Request" from your registered email address.
Upon verification, all personal account records, saved bookmarks, and custom settings will be permanently purged within 30 days.
7Children's Privacy (COPPA Compliance)
Our application is family-friendly and suitable for Muslims of all ages. We do not knowingly collect personal identifiable information from children under 13 years of age without parental consent. If we discover that a child under 13 has provided personal data, we promptly remove such records from our system.
